Frankly the most pathetic people in GIS today are those who wring their hands and say that no one will help them. Resources for working with metadata abound. But as with most modern issues, people will help you with metadata only if it looks like you're willing to put some of your own effort into the problem. This list gives only a small sample of the types of resources that are available, from organizations to web sites to individuals.
