Title:
Digital Geologic Map Database of the Nevada Test Site Area, Nevada
Abstract:
Forty years of geologic investigations at the Nevada Test Site (NTS) have been digitized. These data include all geologic information that: (1) has been collected, and (2) can be represented on a map within the map borders at the map scale is included in the map digital coverages.
Supplemental_Information:
The following coverages are included with this dataset:
Coverage   Type     Description
------------------------------------------
geolpoly   Polygon  Geologic outcrops
geolflts   line     Fault traces
geolatts   Point    Bedding attitudes, etc.
geolcald   line     Caldera boundaries
geollins   line     Interpreted lineaments
geolmeta   line     Metamorphic gradients
These coverages are attributed with numeric values and interpreted information. The entity files documented below show the data associated with each coverage.
/* Procedures_Used
The original digital data came from the SCITEX scan used to print the first NTS geologic map. More detailed information was compiled from unpublished digital geologic data at a scale of 1:24,000 and generalized for presentation at 1:100,000. Digital data was compiled from aerial photography annotated with field geologic data. Further data was supplied from unpublished geologic map information in many forms.
/* Revisions
This is Revision 3 of this data set. See references for previous revisions.
/* Reviews_Applied_to_Data:
The geologic data content has been reviewed by geologists of the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program and the data structures by GIS specialists also of the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program.
