Observed temperature of surface ocean waters, typically encompassing the entire mixed layer. Some observational methods, however, may measure a much smaller depth range. Includes temperature data obtained in-situ or by remote sensing methods.
This category is also used for sst, temperature (sea surface), and sea-surface temperature.
