  2. How were the data generated, processed, and modified?
    Date: unknown (process 1 of 2)
    The geologic map was digitized from the original greenline sheets used to prepare the published Open-File map of the Storm King Mountain quadrangle (Fairer and others, 1993). Consequently, the digital version is at 1:24,000 scale using the Polyconic map projection parameters of the topographic base map. Stable base contact prints of the greenline sheets were digitized on a Calcomp 9500 using GSMAP (Selner and Taylor, 1993) software running on a ACMA 486 Personal Computer. The files were converted to ARC/INFO format using GSMGIS software. These files were transferred to a Sun SPARCstation 20 computer where they were then loaded into ARC/INFO. Each vector and polygon was given attributes derived from the original 1993 geologic map using ALACARTE (Wentworth and Fitzgibbon, 1991) software.
    This database was developed on a SPARCstation 20 computer system using ARC/INFO 7.0.2 software. The lineset and shadeset files are coded for a HP DesignJet 650C plotter using HPGL2 software.
